The renowned designer and collector share his insights and thoughts with a specialist ahead of the Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art live auction and the Cultivating Delight: Collecting Chinese Art online sale

Alan Chan is an avid collector of Chinese art and spent some time at Tatler House with Timothy Lai, a specialist at Christie’s Works of Art department, to gain insights into the antique artworks on offer at the Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art auction on July 9 and the Cultivating Delight: Collecting Chinese Art online sale that will run from July 1 to 15.

Chan’s eponymous design and brand consultancy firm has won more than 600 awards from both local and international organisations. His work is largely influenced by his love for art and Chan cites antique artworks, in particular, as a rich source of inspiration for him.

Lai introduced Chan to some highlights from Christie’s Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art auction, which includes works of art from the Song Dynasty. Among the pieces is an exquisite Ding floral-form dish from the Northern Song Dynasty that both Chan and Lai observe is a prime example of the elegant silhouette and subtle design that is characteristic of the artworks produced during the Song Dynasty.
