6/7 Exhibition: Discover the Gemstones, Ruby & Sapphire

Discover the Gemstones, Ruby & Sapphire is the latest educational exhibition staged at L’École Asia Pacific, School of Jewelry Arts. For the display, gemmologist Billie Hughes used photomicrography to capture the snowflakelike cracks and pencilthin fractures found in gemstones. Rubies and sapphires accompany the photo exhibition, both in their natural form and set in jewellery, while visitors are encouraged to use microscopes to examine the sparklers for themselves. “Gemstones are often celebrated for their aesthetic beauty and vibrant colours,” says Olivier Segura, gemmologist and scientific director of L’École. “However, we want people to think beyond this."

Discover the Gemstones, Ruby & Sapphire exhibition at L’École Asia Pacific, School of Jewelry Arts, runs until September 30
