What is your skin type?
Combination.

Who or what influenced your skincare routine?
My mom and my sister.

How did you find a skincare routine that works for you?
I usually look for products depending on what my skin needs at the moment. In the summer, when I spend a lot of time under the sun, I would look for products that are highly hydrating and could give extra protection under my SPF. I also like products/ingredients that can address fine lines and improve my skin’s elasticity. Over time, I’ve become more aware of the ingredients that my skin can’t tolerate and what works well with them. I like trying new products one at a time for about a week, and see how my skin reacts.

What are your holy grail products?
La Mer renewal oil and The Ordinary Buffet.

What is your evening skincare routine? Take us through each step in your routine
At night is when our skin naturally repairs itself and absorbs products better, so this is when I use my treatments and richer moisturizers.

I first cleanse with my Shiseido facial wash. On nights when I feel like my skin needs a boost, I would use a mild exfoliant just to even out and brighten my skin. I’ve recently started using Sunday Riley’s All In One Lactic Acid and I’ve been loving it! Then I apply The Ordinary Buffet. I’ve gone through bottles and bottles of this product. I sometimes alternate it with my Acaraa hyaluronic serum. It’s a plant-based serum that also works very well with my skin. Then I layer on a few drops of my La Mer Renewal Oil. I cannot gush enough about this oil. And then I finish with my Sandawha Moisturizing Liposome.

What is a skincare hack you think we should know?
Sunscreen isn’t only for the beach! More importantly, our skin reflects what’s going on from the inside. Our stresses, lack of sleep and nutrition shows up on our skin.

Do you use facemasks?
I love a good mask! Sheet masks and clay masks are my faves.

Do you have a beauty/skincare horror story?
I’m actually still in the process of treating my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation spots. My entire back was bitten by sand mites last November and it got really irritated. I had to use steroids to treat them but it made my skin so sensitive. I went to the beach shortly after but I didn’t realize the bites were still a little inflamed so my skin got even more irritated when I applied sunblock. They were pretty bad—my entire back had spots all over [and] it looked like I had done some serious cupping treatments. It’s been months and my skin hasn’t completely evened out yet.

How often do you practise skin fasting (a break from skincare)?
I haven’t done a complete skin fast yet, but I occasionally switch between products to let my skin rest from active ingredients. On those days, I would just stick to a moisturizer and SPF.

Are there any skincare rules you’ve broken that have done wonders to your skin?
I’ve learned to stay away from facial scrubs/physical exfoliators.
