Boutique Caudalie

Once a month, I look forward to my facial at French beauty brand Caudalie’s Central branch. Nestled on the first two floors of a walk-up on stylish Gough Street, the elegant space features a boutique and a spa—a real sanctuary that comes complete with cosy, inviting treatment rooms and a relaxation corner where you can sip on Caudalie organic herbal tea and snack on fresh grapes (the brand is, after all, inspired by and uses grapes from French vineyards).

At the spa, there are six types of facials on offer, with different focuses like hydrating, purifying or sculpting, along with other treatments like eye lifting and firming, body scrub and exfoliating and a sculpting massage. My go-to is the Vinergetic C+ anti-fatigue and replumping facial: an energy-boosting treatment that combines products with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and grapeseed polyphenols, which are plant compounds with antioxidant properties. The facial also uses jade rollers—the ancient beauty tool that, way before becoming de rigeur in beauty influencers’ shelves today, was famously beloved by China’s Empress Cixi in the 19th century; a detox mask is then applied. I usually also do a deep extraction, where my facialist removes pimples (something best left to pros). I love the ritualistic, yet relaxing feel of the facial—everything from the way Caudalie’s facialists expertly massage creams and oils to the way the jade roll is gently glided on the skin. Not only has my skin condition improved since I started my Caudalie facials, the experience has also become something that is a real highlight on my calendar.

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong

I always come out of The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong feeling like a new person. What started a year ago as a solo birthday treat for myself here has turned into something I’ll make space in my calendar for every so often—especially after stressful periods.

For me, what sets The Spa at Four Seasons Hong Kong apart from the myriad spas in the city, many of which offer services at lower price points, is the fact that the massages are truly exceptional—so good, in fact, that they leave me with a profound sense of relaxation and relief. There’s a lightness in my body after each session, as though years of tension are unravelled and carried away. Then there is the level of personalisation and attention to detail: every session feels customised to your body’s unique needs. For me, it’s this combination of expertise, luxury and the sheer joy of feeling light and free in my own body afterwards that makes it worth every penny.

The spa is a sprawling sanctuary that encompasses treatment rooms with glitzy harbour views, a vitality pool, a sauna and an amethyst crystal steam room. Services include massages and a variety of beauty and body treatments. My go-to is the deep tissue massage, a transformative experience that combines precise pressure-point work with long, firm strokes using the hands, elbows and forearms, with the aim of releasing tension and alleviating fatigue in your muscles. The therapists’ expert touch is unmatched—every movement is skilfully executed to provide maximum relief. I also love Four Seasons’ signature oil blends used during the massage—the rose scent is my favourite.

After each massage, I like to while away an afternoon here, making use of the spa’s facilities, particularly the vitality pool. Over in the relaxation area—a serene space where I leave my phone behind and unwind with a stack of magazines—the gluten-free brownies are, to me, the star of the show. With just the right touch of sweetness, they strike a perfect balance: rich but not overpowering, with a velvety smoothness that melts in your mouth. It’s the kind of treat that complements the spa’s atmosphere of calm and indulgence—and the perfect bite to savour, as you linger in your post-massage bliss.

Seoul Aesthetic

To start the new year in “uplifted” mood, I would recommend checking out the Soprano titanium lifting facial at Seoul Aesthetic. I recently gave it a try and was impressed by several things: the professional consultation led by a doctor, the high-quality equipment imported from South Korea and the lasting results, which still gave me a “lifted” feeling around my jawline even after several weeks had passed since the treatment. I especially like that it’s a non-invasive and painless way to add some definition to my facial contours.

10X Longevity

The 45-minute Lyma laser facial at 10X Longevity is the perfect combination of indulgence and effectiveness for me. Beauty aficionados might already be familiar with the Lyma laser, which is one of the leading at-home laser devices. So why head to 10X Longevity wellness studio when you can buy the Lyma laser device and try it at home? I would say it’s because a little pampering, a relaxing massage by professional hands and a beautiful spa setting have never hurt anyone. When I feel a little more indulgent, I combine the Lyma facial with the infrared sauna and cold plunge treatment to release toxins from the whole body and give myself that “wakey, wakey” feeling.

Acme Wellness Hong Kong

What’s better than starting your year fresh? And when I say fresh, I’m talking about mental clarity and an energised body. That’s how I felt after trying Acme’s Wellness’s contrast therapy. The form of treatment dates all the way back to ancient civilisations such as Greece and Rome—and now it’s available to you in a private room in Central. Jump into the sauna, connect yourself to its Bluetooth function and listen to a podcast or relaxing music before jumping in an ice-cold bath. Repeat. Relax. Enjoy.
