Behind The Scenes: November 2018
On the heels of Boracay’s re-opening and between attending budget hearings and completing daily tasks, it is delightfully surprising how Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat managed to squeeze in over half a day for our cover shoot.
As we knew her time was golden, everyone was up and ready as early as 8am at the holding area inside Ayuntamiento de Manila in Intramuros. The DOT secretary came bare-faced, wearing a locally-made woven dress paired with her favourite wedged shoes. She was in high spirits and greeted everyone cheerfully before excitedly rummaging through the beautiful gowns sent by some of the most sought-after Filipino designers like Dennis Lustico, Cary Santiago, Patty Ang, and Len Cabili especially for our cover shoot.
Secretary Romulo-Puyat, a staunch supporter of all things local, happily tried on handmade silver pieces by Bicol-based jeweller Helena Alegre and talked about how to help promote her work—a statement in itself on how she unfailingly utilises her public platform to showcase Philippine products.
The shoot did not take long and finished right on time before she left to attend a budget hearing at the House of Representatives.
