Lisa and her rumoured beau Frédéric Arnault are among the couples in fashion that are a match made in heaven

Sorry to break it to you—the luxury fashion industry isn’t all glitz and glamour. Remove the veil and you’ll discover stories of a highly competitive and clogged system where collaboration, community and support are paramount. While some are lucky enough to find like-minded individuals to create with, others do one better: They fall in love.

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Tatler highlights some of the fashion industry’s most dynamic couples. While life partners and the design-duos behind Coperni and JordanLuca have successfully started brands together, we also spotlight lovers that have breathed new life into runway shows and fashion campaigns as muses. Believe it or not, romantic partnerships have also grounded fashion empires from Comme des Garçons to Vivienne Westwood.

We are often told not to mix work and love. Let these matches made in heaven show you otherwise.

Back in 2023, Blinks went wild when Blackpink’s Lisa was spotted dining in Paris with the now CEO of LVMH Watches Frédéric Arnault. Ever since, the secretive duo has become one of both fashion and entertainment’s most alluring couples with their occasional appearances together at industry events and hushed vacations. Recently, the son of billionaire Bernard Arnault was caught cheering on the K-pop sensation during her headline performance at the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2025 event in Bangkok.

While neither party has confirmed nor denied the relationship, Lisa’s mega-hit Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me) had her hinting rose-tinted glasses for a “green-eyed French boy”. Any guesses?

2. Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler

The late Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler were partners in life and work for close to three decades. Their story began in 1988 when the pair met at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Recognising his talent, the legendary British designer invited the Austrian creative to join her eponymous label. Fast forward to 1992, the romantic partners were married and soon enough, Kronthaler became the brand’s silent design partner and creative director. His impact at the subversive label was so significant that the Dame re-named her mainline to Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood in 2016.

Since her passing, Kronthaler has kept her legacy alive. In spring-summer 2024, he dug deep into his late wife’s personal wardrobe to dream up 34 looks. Why 34 specifically? Turns out, it’s an emotional tribute to the number of years that they spent in each other’s lives.

3. Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe

If you ever get the chance to attend a Comme Des Garçons show, be fair-warned that its legendary founder Rei Kawakubo will be nowhere in sight. Unlike most designers, she has no interest in doing a final bow on the runway. And if you’re lucky enough to sneak backstage and get first scoop on the collection, it will be her life partner and the president of her anti-fashion empire Adrian Joffe who will do all the talking.

Joffe first joined Comme Des Garçons in 1987, later marrying Kawakubo in 1992. While he lives in Paris, and she in Tokyo, the duo have found ways to keep their love alive while growing their trailblazing business ventures from the cult-coveted Comme Des Garçons Parfums (that now celebrates its 20th year) to the multi-brand concept store Dover Street Market that boasts off-beat locations in Paris, New York, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo and Los Angeles.

4. Michèle Lamy and Rick Owens

Of all the couples in fashion, there is perhaps none as easy to recognise as Rick Owens and Michèle Lamy. While the American designer is known to don an all-black uniform, the French multi-hyphenate often drips head-to-toe in her partner’s dark and apocalyptic designs. Some are quick to discredit Lamy as just his advocate and muse, but let us paint you a better picture of their whirlwind romance.

In 1984, it was Lamy who first hired Owens to work on her namesake clothing line. Two years in, they fell in love, eventually joining forces to start Owenscorp in 2004. Today, the husband-wife duo remain collaborators. Lamy now heads the design for Rick Owens Furniture. She also made a surprise runway appearance, opening Owens’ spring-summer 2022 show.

5. Demna and Bfrnd

Demna hasn’t been afraid to show love for his husband and musician Bfrnd, otherwise known as Loïk Gomez, during his tenure at Balenciaga. Along with composing all the show music for the Spanish house since 2017, Gomez has supported his beau by walking on the runway and starring in brand campaigns. According to the French creative and muse, him and Demna’s meeting in 2016 was love at first sight. Only a year later, the pair was married.

It seems that this significant life event continues to replay on the Georgian creative director’s mind. So much so, it took centrestage at the Balenciaga spring-summer 2024 show. Backdropped by red velvet stage curtains, Gomez left show attendees stunned by closing the spectacle in a voluminous lace wedding gown with a matching veil.

6. Thom Browne and Andrew Bolton

Thom Browne, the American designer known for upheaving the men’s suits and creating customs for celebrities like Doechii and Cynthia Erivo, has been with his husband and head curator at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Andrew Bolton since 2011. Bolton has proved to be Browne’s number one fan, cheering on his beau from the front row of his fashion shows and even drawing inspiration from his men’s fall-winter 2012 collection for the 2013 Met Gala theme Punk: Chaos to Couture.

For the past few seasons, Browne has been ending his shows on a romantic note by gifting his partner a box of Valentine’s Day chocolates or a flower bouquet during his final bow. The duo also share Hector, a dachshund, that serves as a key muse in the designer’s universe. Notably, their beloved pet inspired the brand’s popular dog-shaped baguette bags.

7. Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant

Under the direction of co-founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, Coperni has become one of the most highly anticipated shows at Paris Fashion Week. The former artistic directors of Courrèges have become masters of cultivating virality. Along with Bella Hadid’s spring-summer 2023 spray-on dress, they’ve also featured Spot, Boston Dynamics’ four-legged robots, on the runway. Most recently, they rounded off the spring-summer 2025 women’s season by bringing their futuristic take on minimalism to the world’s happiest place on Earth—Disneyland Paris.

Once upon a time, the pair were students at Mod’Art International Paris. Eight years after they decided to lay the foundations of their success today with Coperni Femme, the couple tied the knot in 2021.

8. Lucie and Luke Meier

This husband-wife duo have been at the helm of Jil Sander since 2017. The life partners met at Florence’s Polimoda fashion institute. Luke was an exchange student, catalysing what would become seven years of long distance while they both paved their ways in the industry. While the Canadian designer would bloom as the creative director of Supreme later jumpstarting his label OAMC, Swiss-born Lucie would cut her teeth at prestigious fashion houses like Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton before spearheading Dior womenswear for five seasons.

After marrying in 2007, the Meier’s put their divergent paths in streetwear and couture to good use, reinvigorating the German label with their unique spin on minimalism paired with sharp tailoring and quality materials.

9. Jordan Bowen and Luca Marchetto

Where do you dream of tying the knot? While some couples envision a lush forest landscape or a beach, co-founders of the rising menswear label JordanLuca—Jordan Bowen and Luca Marchetto—decided to officially seal the deal in front of friends, family,  photographers and fashion journalists at their fall-winter 2025 show.

After the design-duo serendipitously met in an East London restroom, they went on to launch their brand in 2018. Garnering attention for bridging British tailoring and Italian craftsmanship, the brainchild of Bowen and Marchetto is now a mainstay on the Milan Fashion Week circuit.

10. Ludovic de Saint Sernin and Ignacio Muñoz

When Ludovic de Saint Sernin and his eponymous label first broke into the scene in 2017, the industry was floored by his skin-baring gender-fluid designs. Since, the Belgium designer has skyrocketed, adding a brief stint at the helm of Ann Demeulemeester and guest designer for Jean Paul Gaultier couture to his resume. By his side was his brand’s image director Ignacio Muñoz whom loyalists may recognise from the label’s spring-summer 2011 campaign. Last October, the couple took things to the next level with de Saint Sernin popping the question to Muñoz on a sunset-hued beach in Tulum, Mexico.
