Front & Female Awards voting committee member Michelle Ma-Chan, co-founder and executive director of FANCL, on Business Leader Award winner Bonnie Y Chan, CEO of HKEX

Bonnie Y Chan is a remarkable leader and the deserving winner of the Business Leader Award. As the first woman to take the helm at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), she is making significant strides in an industry that often requires a fresh perspective. Having known Bonnie, I appreciate her genuine commitment to promoting gender diversity in business.

She has been instrumental in actively pushing for initiatives that ensure greater representation of women on corporate boards. It is impressive to see how her efforts have already led to 84 per cent of Hong Kong-listed companies having at least one woman on their board.

What I admire about Bonnie is her practical approach to leadership. She is not just about making headlines; she focuses on implementing real changes that enhance the overall functioning of HKEX. Her ability to balance the big picture with the details makes her a great asset to the organisation.

Bonnie’s leadership is paving the way for a more inclusive future in finance, and I look forward to seeing how she continues to drive progress in the industry.
