How To Create Your Dream Kitchen: Tatler And Poggenpohl Host A Momentous Virtual Event
There's no doubt that our homes have become safe havens in the past year; each part of the house has taken a new role with common areas becoming more important than ever. The kitchen, for example, has become such an integral part of our lives (now more than ever), as it is where we are able to express our creativity through cooking and bond with family members while preparing meals. With this in mind, Tatler in partnership with Kuysen and Poggenpohl hosted a virtual get-together last 11 March 2021 for a creative workshop and open conversation about building one's dream kitchen.
For those attending the event, Tatler sent experience kits that featured a curated menu prepared by Shangri-La at the Fort. A selection of German-inspired dishes were included: canapés, an entrée, and dessert, along with a bottle of Charles De Fère chardonnay.
Among the guests were select Tatler friends, designers, and principals from Kuysen and Poggenpohl.
To open the evening, Tatler's Managing Director, Irene Martel Francisco, warmly welcomed all those who tuned in. The evening's host, Nicole Andersson, then introduced Kuysen President Jensen Go who shared a few words on why they partnered with Poggenpohl.
"It is a historical company—a company of firsts. The first kitchen cabinet company in the world, in fact; the first to introduce lacquered finishes, the first to introduce the island concept," Jensen shared. Dialling in all the way from Germany were Poggenpohl's International Sales Director Bas Mol, Chief Product Officer Thomas Richter, and Chief Design Officer Yunwei Zhu.
To kick-off the event, Nicole opened the floor for a conversation on design—why it's important to customise and invest in quality. To give light to kitchen configurations and possibilities with Poggenpohl, Yunwei spoke about several options from the brand including the +Modo, +Segmento, +Segmento Y, +Venovo, and +Stage.
Present for nearly 130 years in the business, Poggenpohl has continued to deepen its footing in the world of kitchen design. Established in 1892, this German brand is synonymous with the best in class—innovative, of superior quality, and engrained with passion. Each homeowner who owns a Poggenpohl kitchen can boast of beautiful aesthetics that are perfectly matched with technical excellence and functionality.
Bas chimed in, "What we are looking for is to offer a kitchen that will last a lifetime. What sets us apart is our lifetime service [as well]—even after 15 - 20 years, we can still provide remedial deliveries." He relates that each unit in the kitchen is marked with a unique product number that is meticulously filed and recorded, so that a quick call to the Poggenpohl head office (or in the Philippines, Kuysen), is all it takes when you need servicing for your kitchen.
Guests also chimed in with questions like: How does one build a kitchen for a beach home? What to prioritise when designing your kitchen? All these and more were addressed as Bas, Yunwei, and Thomas all shared a few tips and thoughts from their experience and expertise with Poggenpohl.
To wrap up the occasion, Nicole took the guests through a virtual showroom tour. On-screen, a video of two locations were shown, the Kuysen Design and Experience Centre (KDEC) located in Makati City and the Poggenpohl showroom in Germany.
Through a casual evening of conversation and exchange of ideas, guests were able to gather unique insights on how to make one's kitchen special and just how easy it can be to build your dream space.
