The wedding, which was supposed to have taken place in Italy, was no less special for the bride and groom

It would have been a grand wedding in Rome but fate, or COVID-19, got in the way. Instead, Charles Tiu and Sarah “Sari” Lazaro got married in a much more intimate affair in Tagaytay. The ceremony, held in July 23 at the Madre de Dios Church in Tagaytay Midlands, was however not any less special for the couple.

They met on a night out in Poblacion, Makati. Tiu proposed to Lazaro on 23 November 2019 in El Nido, Palawan. And now, their plans for their Roman wedding had to be altered for a very good reason. “We really wanted to start our married life together already,” the bride shares. “We could not wait to live together because we had promised to wait to do this until after marriage.”

The couple described their experience in planning a wedding amid a quarantine as “a bit of a challenge”. They monitored the change in regulations on a weekly basis. They carefully studied safety protocols. “We would be debating back and forth on the safety of our guests and the number of people we could invite— even how far apart we would seat each of our guests at the church and reception,” the bride adds.

In the end, the wedding turned out to be a wonderful celebration. “We were happy that everything went perfectly well, and everyone was safe,” the couple says.

The church was simple but elegant with beautiful floral arrangements by the Tagaytay Highlands in-house team. The bride, in a bespoke double-layered Chantilly lace dress by Antonelli Rossi, walked down the aisle towards the groom, in his Dalcuore Italia suit and Ambrosi Napoli trousers.

The wedding dinner was a gourmet fare of foie gras salad, zucchini soup with scallops, live lobster and prime rib steak. The couple had nothing but praises for the Tagaytay Highlands F&B who prepared the delicious meal. “They definitely outdid themselves in this aspect,” the couple shares.
