Louis Vuitton Unveils Official Monaco Grand Prix 2021 Trophy Travel Case
After collaborating with NBA for a basketball capsule collection, Louis Vuitton's new multi-year collaborator is none other than Automobile Club de Monaco, the ones behind Monaco Grand Prix, a leading Formula One motor racing event. And marking the start of the partnership is the Trophy Travel Case, which the winner of this year's Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco on 23 May 2021.
The Trophy Travel Case was hand-crated in the fashion house's historic Asnières, located on the outskirts of Paris. It showcases Louis Vuitton's traditional know-how while drawing inspiration from the heritage of the prestigious race which is celebrating its 78th edition this year. The iconic Monogram canvas is adorned with the red shade of the Monaco flag while the red lines tracing "V" for victory are rimmed with a white stripe that's reminiscent of the unique urban route of the track.

Just like other in-person events, the motor race was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. Its highly-anticipated return later this month comes with changes as organisers set the capacity to 7,500 ticketholders per day which only able 40 per cent of the available seating. The French fashion house is no stranger to luxury award trunks as they have worked with FIFA's World Cup and even e-sports game, League of Legends' championship trophy.
Of the partnership, Louis Vuitton chairman and CEO Michael Burke says, "Today, we are proud to be associated with the race and to together start writing a piece of history. The Trophy trunk epitomizes ‘Victory travels in Louis Vuitton'—witnessing the next victories and continuing to carry legends".
Michel Boeri, president of Automobile Club de Monaco adds, "We are delighted that the trophy awarding the winner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco can now safely travel in "first class". Louis Vuitton and Automobile Club de Monaco are at once forerunners and project supervisors in their respective fields of expertise. Louis Vuitton is associated with the most coveted trophies in the world".
