With the athleisure market booming, these fashion labels are collaborating with sports brands to create chic limited-edition collections

1/6 Staud x New Balance

Staud is known for making high-quality wardrobe staples that stand the test of time – with the brand's effortless summer dresses, chic separates and classic bags all proving highly popular.

Through its collaboration with the sportswear brand, Stand x New Balance brings to the table a colourful array of crop tops, running shorts, leggings and bags – along with a special edition of New Balance's classic 997 sneaker. The retro-inspired collection features bold block colours of blue, green, orange and pink, with the classic shapes lending themselves perfectly for when you're looking to work up a sweat, or just lounge around in chic comfort.

Speaking of the collaboration on Instagram, Sarah Staudinger, co-founder and creative director of Staud stated “Part of the STAUD ethos has always been to create timeless fashion pieces for the modern woman, so working with an iconic heritage brand as our first foray into activewear is a dream come true.”.

Launched officially last month, the limited-edition collection isn't likely to be available for long.

2/6 Angel Chen x adidas

Collaborating with the sportswear giant, designer Angel Chen has created a a line of sneakers for adidas that playfully draw inspiration from Chinese calligraphy, kungfu and ping-pong.

Available to purchase online from May 30, the collection includes reinvented versions of the sports label’s classic Sleek Super, Kiellor, Ozweego and Magmur sneakers, with the bold shoes featuring colourful contemporary graphics and exaggerated silhouettes. 

The minimalist Sleek Super are the most paired back of the collection, available in black and white colour ways, but featuring a bright pop of colour on the sole of the shoe, inspired by the art of calligraphy; while the Magmur Runner and Kiello styles offer a modern take on exaggerated '90s trainers.

3/6 Dior x Jordan Brand

The luxury fashion house is partnering with iconic sportswear label Jordan Brand to create a limited-edition menswear sneaker. Unveiled at the Men’s Fall 2020 Runway show in Miami at the end of 2019, the Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior pays tribute to Dior’s excellence and savoir-faire in leather goods while drawing inspiration from both brands’ rich heritage. 

The iconic Nike Swoosh adorns the sneakers, but gets a update with the Dior Oblique motif, showcasing the blending of high-end streetwear and luxury fashion.

Along with the high-top design, a low version of the Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior will be available, along with a collection of read-to-wear accessories. 

Limited to 8,500 pairs, the collaboration will be available globally on July 7.

4/6 Nike x Sacai

First dropping back in September 2019, the Nike x Sacai collab is expected to be releasing a new sneaker design this summer. Snapshots of the new design have been doing the rounds on social media in recent days, with the new colour way featuring a retro-inspired look with bold red, black and blue accents.

The highly-anticipated new Nike x Sacai Vaporwaffle ‘Game Royal/Sport Fuchsia’ shoe adds to the previously launched Nike x Sacai waffle collection, which includes an all white nylon design, and a colourful 'Varsity blue', complete with yellow Swoosh.

As a brand known for mixing streetwear with feminine high-fashion, the Japanese label brings a modern edge to the mainstream sports brand, with the new design sure to be in high demand. On the Nike website, athleisure pieces from past collections, including t-shirts, shorts and sports bras can all be still be purchased.

5/6 H&M x P.E Nation

Launched in February, the H&M x P.E Nation collection is full of neon colours, retro vibes and sustainably sourced materials.

The Sydney-based athleisure brand and fast-fashion giant's collaboration effortlessly mixes performance wear with street style fashion, with a focus on sustainability.

Speaking of the collab, co-founder of P.E Nation, Pip Edwards states that "we wanted to create an original P.E feel with a fresh new colour palette that uses recycled, organic or other more sustainable fabrications. We reimagined P.E signature silhouettes and remixed them with new fabrications, neon and unexpected trims. We went for the best-selling athleisure pieces and threw in some fashion tees and skirts, plus accessories, to complete the P.E Nation woman."

The easy-to-wear collection features everything from cotton shorts and hoodies, to sports tights cycling shorts, bralettes and swimwear and is available to shop online now.

6/6 Roksanda x lululemon

Although the Roksanda x lululemon collaboration first launched in October last year, a new drop was released in January, with items still available to purchase online.

Known for creating modern, feminine silhouettes that feature her trademark colourblocking, designer Roksanda Ilinčić infused her signature craftsmanship into classic lululemon staples in this popular collab.

The high performance sportswear brand and high fashion label have more in common than one may first have thought, with Ilinčić explaining that "The ethos behind both brands is to empower women, to make them feel comfortable with themselves, comfortable with their bodies, and comfortable with the clothes they’re wearing".
