Check-In

…was a breeze. The front desk personnel welcomed us with a smile and gave us recommendations so we can maximise our stay. We checked-in on a Sunday, which was opportune because of the ‘Sunday Fiesta’ buffet that most visitors flock to. Once we were all checked-in, we settled in our room.

The Room

Well-appointed and beautifully decorated, it’s exactly what one expects when dreaming of a cherished ‘staycation’. By the recliner, there was a welcome letter paired with a serving of homemade granola with coconut water — a hearty and refreshing snack. We already felt at home. We stayed in the Deluxe Queen room but there are several other accommodations to choose from. The same room also comes with a balcony option that offers a beautiful view of the pool and a spacious outdoor area for small gatherings.

Sunday Fiesta

This buffet was one for the books! Made special by the ‘paluto(à la minute) section which was reminiscent of bay area restaurants around Manila that allow diners to choose their own fresh produce and cooking style. With a wide selection of fresh seafood, one could opt for different dish variants. Have your choice of produce grilled, broiled, fried, or made into soup. Held in the hotel’s prime dining restaurant, S Kitchen, the lunch was a good start to our stay. Besides the paluto section, there was more to try out. They also had Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, and International offerings. It was a fiesta indeed.

Unwind in style

After a hefty meal, there’s a lot of activities to choose from. A trip to Sheraton Manila’s Vega Pool is a must. Its large surface area makes for a relaxing atmosphere (one can swim about with ease). With a DJ booth just across the pool, great music helps to ease one into a vacation mood. There are numerous lounge chairs around the area, too. The pool is open till 10PM so you might want to add a night swim to your docket.

TATLER TIP: A poolside bar offers delectable snacks and bespoke drinks. How about indulging in a cocktail as you laze around and lean into the staycation vibe?

Family First

Parents will be delighted to know that the hotel offers a Kids Club where little kiddos can enjoy fun activities throughout the day.

VIP Treatment

For those looking for a venue to hold meetings or conduct business, Sheraton Manila has seven conference rooms available for use via the Sheraton Club. If you're a member of the club, all-day dining offerings and free-flowing cocktails in the evening await. For bigger events, a grand ballroom may be reserved.

The Lounge

Toast to the good life

In the evening we visited The Lounge. Guests will be happy to know that there is a live band that serenades the crowd every night — requests are most welcome. They even had an option for unlimited nachos to go with your drinks. A well-stocked bar, good food, and a sophisticated vibe make The Lounge a great place to share a drink (or two) with friends. Make sure to try out their specialty cocktails. If you’re unsure what to order, the bartenders have several recommendations up their sleeve.

Access is key

Sheraton Manila has direct access to the Resorts World casino and the rest of the Newport City complex. All it takes is a walk through the connecting bridge and you may visit the Newport Mall where there are more dining options to consider (or perhaps a shopping spree?). The hotel’s great location is one of its most attractive selling-points. Nestled just by the airport terminal, it’s easy to catch an early flight. An hourly airport shuttle is also available for those who need it.

Rest and Relaxation

After drinks at The Lounge and exploring the adjacent establishments, we resigned to our room. Just like any other luxury hotel, Sheraton Manila doesn’t skimp out on amenities. The restroom was well-prepped with toiletries and goodies any traveller might need. A warm bath after a long day doesn’t hurt.

Keeping up with your routine

We got to squeeze in a quick early morning workout at Sheraton Fitness which was a full-sized gym. Stocked with top-of-the-line gym equipment (even a TRX area), a fitness buff won’t feel homesick here. However, if you’re not up to a heavy workout just yet, a leisurely run on the treadmill is also a good option — and it’s exactly what we opted for. Maybe next time we’ll get to make the most out of their gym!

Breakfast for champs

In the morning, we enjoyed a complimentary breakfast buffet at S Kitchen. We indulged in well-cooked offerings (and even made room for dessert). An assortment of cereal, viands, and an eggs & bacon station will delight anyone who enjoys hefty morning meals. Don’t miss out on the charcuterie!

After taking another quick dip by the irresistible Vega pool and exploring more of what Sheraton Manila has to offer, we proceeded to check out. Multifaceted facilities and authentic Filipino hospitality made our stay special despite its brevity. A must-visit, this landmark hotel will help you unwind from the fast pace of everyday life... we most certainly did.
