Alan Lau and Mimi Chun to step down from Para Site leadership roles

This month, there has been a significant transition within the Tatler community as Alan Lau and Mimi Chun step down from their leadership roles at Para Site after a decade of dedicated service. Founded in early 1996, Para Site is a leading contemporary art centre and one of the oldest and most active independent art institutions in Asia.

Lau will continue as a board member, while Chun retires to pursue personal and professional interests. Alan Lo, an established entrepreneur and art patron, has been appointed as the new board chair effective this month. This change marks a pivotal moment for Para Site, especially as it prepares for its 30th anniversary celebrations in 2026. Under Lau’s leadership, Para Site has flourished, hosting 89 exhibitions and forging global partnerships with prestigious institutions. Both Lau and Chun leave behind a legacy of innovation and commitment to contemporary art in Hong Kong.

Previous chairs include architect, artist and Tatler Asia’s Most Influential honouree, William Lim, and Chanel’s global head of arts and culture, Yana Peel. Lo has served as a board member of Para Site since 2015.

Chef Franckelie Laloum opens first solo venture, Lala, in Soho

On February 8, Chef Franckelie Laloum and hospitality veteran Michael Larkin launched Lala, a new French restaurant in Hong Kong. The restaurant, whose name combines the founders’ surnames, offers classic French cuisine with a modern, lighter approach, focusing on high-quality ingredients.

Pastry chef Natalie Leung provides complementary desserts, while Pawel Mikusek curates a cocktail programme that mixes traditional and contemporary drinks. As Chef Laloum puts it: “We’re not reinventing French cuisine. We’re celebrating it by creating a space where great food meets a relaxed vibe, making French dining more approachable and not just for special occasions.”
