#TatlerTravels: Mumbai With Marco Lobregat
1/12 LOVE LOCAL
Melting Pot
At Melting Pot, start with the lemon corriander soup to get your appetite going. This place has mouthwatering tandoori dishes. Try the chicken angare, a juicier version of the familiar chicken tikka with the chef’s secret spices. Charcoal and spices, succulent chicken, goodness to the bone. Chicken tandoori, wins in flavour. For an added bang have their tandoori dishes with a side of lemon rice.
2/12 Soul Fry
Go on for dinner on a Monday night for some great home-style Goan food and mingle with the regulars who come to sing-a-long. Order this combination:
Fried crispy bombil (fish fillets), calamari green chili garlic, goan prawn curry rice.
3/12 Bombay Brasserie
Dig in to their chicken tikka butter masala – marinated spiced, charcoal roasted chicken chunks in a rich Punjabi makhani sauce, and Mario’s mango prawns & coconut rice.
4/12 International Flavours
Botticino, Trident Bandra Kurla Complex
Wild mushroom risotto, creamy risotto, button and shimeiji mushrooms with parmesan fondue, truffle oil and enoki fritters. Albeit these are cultivated mushrooms, not wild, the dish was perfectly done.
5/12 Indigo Deli
This award-winning and trendsetting deli has expanded into a number of locations all over Mumbai. Try their lemon butter calamari with lemon hollandaise and their lamb burger.
6/12 Dashanzi, JW Mariott, Mumbai
This Pan-Asian lounge serves memorable dishes like the Chicken Rendang, and their crispy tiger prawns, with golden garlic, chilies and curry leaves. Look for Trishla, and tell her you know Phil and Marco. She’ll hook you up!
7/12 Bombay Canteen
One of the hippest places in Mumbai with a well-designed menu of food and cocktails.
8/12 Brunch Spots
Some Mumbaikars take brunch very seriously and enjoy spending relaxed and prolonged meals with some good ambience and company.
Lotus Café, JW Marriott Juhu
The motherlode of brunches in Mumbai. Just their abundance of charcuterie and live stations where you can get all you can eat grilled or deep fried jumbo prawns and lamb chops make this a wise choice for a Sunday afternoon.
9/12 Olive Bar & Kitchen
For a lighter and more quiet Sunday brunch. Eggs Bennedict, mortadella, soft poached egg, English muffins and hollandaise.
10/12 COFFEE
Prithvi Theatre
There’s just something about Prithvi Theatre’s vibe that draws you in. Maybe it’s the performances, maybe it’s the little bookstore, maybe it’s their Irish coffee.
11/12 Koinonia Coffee Roasters
A little corner for coffee aficionados. Try a cup!
12/12 Libations
Check out some of these places in the hip and trendy areas of Bandra and Juhu, like: Bar 145, Bonobo, Estella, and Su Casa!
