In anticipation of the new season of ‘The White Lotus’, shot in Koh Samui, we share some of the best things to eat, see and do on the Thai island

The long wait is almost over as the HBO acclaimed series The White Lotus returns this February for its third season.

Since its debut season, the anthology series has garnered over 20 Emmy nominations and is known for its social satire, dark humour and plot twists. Similar to its previous seasons, the new episodes continue exploring the lives of guests and employees at a luxury resort. On top of the captivating plot, another reason for the show’s anticipated return is the acting debut of K-pop girl group Blackpink’s Lisa.

This Mediterranean-inspired restaurant spotlights local ingredients from organically grown vegetables to fresh seafood. Visit during sunset to watch the sky transform into a canvas of vibrant hues. Commonly known as the Big Buddha Temple, this iconic temple is located on Ko Phan, a small island accessible via a short causeway from Koh Samui. Constructed in 1972,  the temple is most famous for its massive 12-metre-tall golden Buddha statue that can be seen from several kilometres away. Upon reaching the statue’s base, you’ll find panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand. Visit in the morning and you might get the opportunity to observe morning monk prayers.

Fisherman’s Village

This charming historical area located in Bophut offers visitors an authentic glimpse into traditional Thai coastal life. Originally a thriving fishing community, the village has transformed into a vibrant tourist destination while preserving its cultural heritage. Visit and you’ll find its wooden shophouses carefully converted into boutique shops, restaurants and bars. The village comes alive at night with its famous Walking Street Market. Walk through the night market and find vendors selling local handicrafts, street food and more.
