The newest dining spot at Bonifacio Global City offers diners top-of-the-class New York comfort food all day and night.

Patrick Santos, Albert Besa, and the chef Cuit Kaufman, the minds behind Borough, Nolita and L.E.S. Bagels, have come up on a new restaurant in BGC that vows to wow diners with its sublime selection of New York comfort food.

Named after the historical street in Lower Manhattan, The Bowery is a cosy and welcoming restaurant where New York comfort food staples are to be found. As the city is considered as a “microcosm of the world” various dishes can be traced to its French, Italian, Asian, and even Mexican roots. “New York comfort food is American comfort food,” the chef Kaufman said. “And while comfort food can be different wherever you go in the world, American comfort food seems to have become sort of universal comfort food surpassing national boundaries.” The Bowery offers a wide range of New York dishes that suit the local Filipino palate. “Nowadays, the Filipino diner is more educated and more discerning when it comes to eating out. This makes him/her more open to new ideas yet at the same time he/she expects higher quality also,” Santos said.

The chef Kaufman distinguished The Bowery as a perfect dining destination for those who are in the lookout for more sophisticated, high end, comfort food restaurant. Compared to their previous restauarants like Nolita, The Bowery is particularly more of a full-service restaurant, with relaxed setting, and where groups of friends may enjoy their lunch or dinner leisurely. The dishes are result of the chef Kaufman’s personal experiences, and creative innovation of simple and comforting dishes with the choice of finer ingredients. At The Bowery, diners may enjoy classic comfort favourite, mac and cheese, that is turned into something special with lobster, shrimp, crème fraiche, cream cheese, and truffle oil.

Signature dishes at The Bowery that every diner may enjoy with are the film-inspired Spanglish BLT, spicy black bean cake Napoleon, free-form bread pudding, The Bowery’s version of Chicken and Waffles. Cap off the meal with the lusciously indulgent Death by Chocolate, which is a seven-layered dessert of various chocolate kinds. “Each item on the menu is inspired by different places and the favourite restaurants I grew up with,” the chef Kaufman said. The Bowery offers as well original, hand-crafted cocktails that allow people to stay longer in the restaurant after dinner or lunch.

“Since The Bowery in New York is a street that has roots in the past, we wanted a place that had character and felt lived-in,” Santos said. The Bowery’s interiors reflects a comforting cosmopolitan atmosphere. The furniture provokes a nostalgic feeling for diners as The Bowery has an old school, familiar vibe, with contemporary touch. The warm pour of light from both street corners makes the restaurant a perfect spot for breakfast and brunch. At night, the restaurant transforms into a cool hangout place where one can spend the whole night contented with sangrias or French martinis. The second floor of The Bowery is designed as a bar by night and has an outdoor balcony overlooking BGC’s Mind Museum and Rizal Drive.

Indeed, The Bowery stays true to its inspiration, which is a city that never sleeps, by offering exceptional comfort fare all day and night. “Whenever you're craving for a particular food and you find it and it tastes exactly how you want it to taste or even better... that's the best comfort food,” Santos said. “The best comfort food is any food that you don't have to think too hard about but still makes you say, mmm!” the chef Kaufman said.
